Although it’s often viewed by many as a harmless recreational drug, marijuana abuse can have a serious negative impact on an individual’s personal and professional development. When that person happens to be a high-paid, professional athlete who’s expected to perform under the spotlight at the top of their game, the negative effects of marijuana are magnified.
Marijuana affects performance for athletes on and off the field, as such was the case with 23-year old Houston Astro’s John Singleton. John recently completed a month-long stay in rehab to receive treatment for his marijuana addiction. The Darryl Strawberry Recovery Center applauds John for his courage to face his addiction head on and wish him the best in his upcoming season both on and off the field.
